Boston.com reports that former TV sportscaster and “Candlepins for Cash” host Bob Gamere has been arrested on charges of transporting and possessing child pornography.
The article states that Gamere “told the Globe a year ago that he was “semi-retired,” though he had been doing some announcing at Boston University track meets and was until recently calling horse races at the Brockton Fair.”
He also did a one-time fill in appearance on WEEI’s Dennis and Callahan program.

I never liked him because of his arrogance and it appeared to be that he was not all there. Imagine a man of that background and statue doing this. How many games and sports arenas has he been at and welcomed at while all they time he was a low life child pornography addict. I hope they give the slob 20 years.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Boston Sports Media handles this. If it was an athlete facing these kind of charges he would be tared and feathered by the media. This being “one of their own” I wonder if they will circle the wagons?……
Ehh…they’ll trot out the perfunctory line that ‘He needs help and treatment,’ as though this affliction just descended from the clouds and–DING!–chose him. Not painting with a broad brush here, but see for yourself what kind of ‘troubles’ that TV news people have gotten into…just this year! Boston and nationwide.
