Dan Shaughnessy is such an east target that criticism of him should be retired. The less said about him, the better.

If you search "Dan Shaughnessy wade boggs margo" in the Globe archives you get 74 articles, 11 of which were written after Boggs left the Sox. There was even a reference to Margo in a 2003 story...on the Patriots' training camp. So today he reflects sympathy for Boggs because his wasn't the capital crime that everyone else made it out to be. It's more hypocritical than ironic. Today's column employs one of Shaughnessy's favorite devices: he knows everyone hates Arod so he takes the contrarian viewpoint to get attention. Lame.
