Celtics Pan Nuggets, Looking For Moore

The Celtics had no trouble at all with the Denver Nuggets last night, cruising to a 114-76 thrashing in the mile high city. Ray Allen had 26 points and Paul Pierce 22 in the win, which moved the Celtics to 3-1 on the current road trip.

Marc J. Spears has the Celtics feeling at home in Denver, and handing the Nuggets their second largest home loss ever in franchise history. Steve Bulpett has the Celtics coming into this one looking for payback for an earlier loss to the Nuggets.

Despite his agent saying last night that he hadn’t made a decision yet, it appears Mikki Moore will be joining the Celtics. Bulpett reports that Moore will take  a physical today and could play tomorrow night against the Clippers. He also says that when Moore signs, the team will no longer be leaving the “porch light” on for Joe Smith. Jessica Camerato looks at where the Celtics stand in the new East. Check CelticsLinks.com for more out-of-town stories and blog posts.

Spears’ notebook has additional information the potential addition of Moore today. Bulpett’s notebook has Brian Scalabrine having to leave the game last night after a hard foul from Johan Petro.

  • Rick Mc

He also has Johnny Pesky forecasting a bright future for Jacoby Ellsbury.

I want a story about a an oldtimer saying a players is very limited and won’t be as good as everybody wants.

Will anyone comment on the oft-repeated rumor that Dale Arnold shops for vacation wardrobe at JC Penneys in the Husky Boys Dept.???

  • Jason Coyote

Speaking of Husky Boys, Dale’s midday talk partner better be careful himself. Married life and fatherhood have added a few lbs to MH, and because he’s fairly short he can’t afford to put on much more weight without it showing on his TV appearances. Last night on CSN it looked like he had a double chin in development.

    • Rick Mc

He is just fulfilling his contract at WEEI. To work at the station you must display at least one of the following: bigotry, morbid obesity, ambiguous sexuality (virgin and sheeper included).

The Celtics stepped up without KG and made it happen. We’ll see how the Celtics can do in the next 2-3 weeks.

Question for the masses: does anyone know if the combine players are subject to drug testing? Or, to put it another way, what is the first point at which a prospective NFL draftee is subject to mandatory drug testing?

I just get a little suspicious when I see guys suddenly appear out of nowhere with dominant physical performances at the combine….

    • Rick Mc

There is some testing. Warren Sapp got popped for marijuana before the draft.

      • sam the butcher

I think with Sapp it was from failed tests while in college. I’m sure they take the test at the Combine.

  • Bruce

I think the new comments section here looks pretty good…
