Patriots Busy On Day One of Free Agency

So much for the Patriots not getting too involved in the opening days of free agency.

First it was Fred Taylor agreeing to come aboard. (Shalise Manza Young)

Then it was TE Chris Baker being nabbed from the New York Jets. (Herald)

The team has also hosted defensive back Leigh Bodden today. (Globe)

In a subtraction, long snapper Lonie Paxton is apparently heading to Denver. (Globe)

But the biggest news of the day is that the Patriots have traded stalwart linebacker Mike Vrabel to the Kansas City Chiefs. ( The deal has since been confirmed – Albert Breer and Christopher L. Gasper.

The Vrabel move is the most intriguing, as it just seems like there has to be another move coming…

Could that Brady/Patriots window, just like the Celtics, be closed for good?

The colossal second-coming of Joe Montana, once a perfect 10-0 and then 14-2 in the postseason, needed a Tim Tebow tumble to reality and a choke for the ages by Baltimore’s Lee Evans and Billy Cundiff — just to pick up a couple playoff wins.

Rosenthal at msnbc rporting that Vrabel is part of the deal, with Cassel. Pats get 3rd pick in the draft and clear 20mil of cap space. Grain of salt and all.
