I watch the game on the TV at the Umass,Amherst, students union underground concourse. I really thought that the sox were going to break the curse that year. Well, it wasnt to be!
After the game and on the way to diner, tempers were at their tops with go yankees and yankees suck yelled from rival fans. It all ended up with the biggest food fight(in the Worcester dining common) I never witnessed.

I remember sitting in the bleachers the weekend before the end of the season. Dismal for the fact that the sox had blown their huge lead. We'd gone to see Eck win his 20th when Sherm announced tickets for a potential playoff would go on-sale in the concourse. Everybody laughed at the gallows humor but my buddy and I said what have we got to lose? Bought 4 sat in the 3rd base grandstand , up too high to see the top of the wall ( "it went out?) BFD. Pinella sticking his lucky glove out in right on the 1 hopper. Brought back from the brink, again , only to lose, again. 2004 make 's it a lot easier to remember.

I read Reynolds on Saturdays when I'm in RI. Reminds me a lot of Saturdays when I read the late Ernie Roberts.

Ya, I'm old.I know.
