underrated topic nobody has brought up: The Celtics have got NOTHING out of their 1st round pick this year. He really could be helping right now, but apparently Giddens is a waste of space.

Call me a weirdo, but I almost enjoy rooting for my favorite team when expectations are lower more than I enjoy rooting for them when expectations are high. I find that I get too worked up when the team is expected to do well, and I can’t enjoy the experience quite as much. Watching these Celtics’ playoff games this year have been a blast, because realistically we all have it in the back of our minds that they’re probably not getting past Cleveland or LA, but to see them basically overachieve is gratifying (think 1986-87, when that injury and death-crippled team had no right to get all the way to the 6th game of the NBA Finals–and almost a 7th game–before losing; that was probably as proud of a Boston sports team as I’ve ever been in my life).

Jesus f-ing Christ – can’t fans praise someone without having to put someone else down? Eck is good and I like him. But I really like Remy too.

Just anecdotally when I attend Celtics games with casual sports fans and not the ones like us who obsess over WEEI and the newspapers, people don’t really care that the C’s have almost no chance to repeat. It’s actually refreshing to attend games with sports fans who aren’t cynical and are there to root like hell for the team and aren’t angry pricks afterwards.
